Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz created a recent buzz online after sharing images and videos that may hint for a possible reunion project.
The Instagram photo that Bea posted had a very strong reference to their iconic movie in 2007, “One More Chance.” Lloydi, on the other hand, posted a couple of videos of them together with the same table and chairs they are using on the photo Bea posted.
Seeing this photo excites fans as they consider this a teaser for the pair’s comeback movie following their hit movie series about the love story of Popoy (John Lloyd) and Basha (Bea). Is it possible that the stars will release another sequel? Before we go to that, let us look back at the blockbuster movies of Popoy and Basha:
One More Chance
In 2005, this movie touched the lives of many people. In fact, lines from the film are still all over the internet these days.
It’s about long-time couple Basha (Bea Alonzo) and Popoy (John Lloyd) who are so in love. But due to some issues, they split up, leaving everyone heartbroken, including me.
But Basha, a strong, independent woman that she is, wanted to try new things, discover who she truly is without the love of her life. Popoy, as much as he loves her so much and didn’t want to let her go, didn’t want to get in the way of her achieving her goals. Struggling to build back their lives, both Popoy and Basha were reminded of how much happier they both were when they were together.
Can you imagine how much tears both these characters shed in this movie? And then imagine all of us who watched this movie over and over. We just couldn’t get over it. It’s like if we watch it over and over, they won’t ever break up. But so much about “One More Chance.”
Remember “A Second Chance” when they got married and things got worse? Imagine all those while thinking of a possible third movie to this sequel!
A Second Chance
Also directed by Cathy Garcia Molina, this 2015 film is a sequel to “One More Chance” which features the continuation of Popoy and Basha’s love story after their marriage. The movie reflects the intricacies of a married life. It features how the pair gave up on their marriage since it was too hard for them to deal with each other’s differences.
Popoy was also facing personal issues when he failed to achieve his goals as an engineer. While trying to build his self-esteem, he lost Basha along the way. Although their Engineer-Architect tandem is perfect for their construction firm, some things just don’t fall on its proper places all at once. In the end, they eventually get back together.
The movie was full of drama and fun scenes. The struggles of the couple mirrors the realities of marriage that it isn’t merely a bed of roses. Isn’t this a nice storyline where “A Last Chance” can pick up? Do you think we could see Popoy and Basha’s kids in the next possible sequel?
Is a Popoy-Basha Reunion Movie Set for Release?
Even after a few years, people are still hungover with the Popoy and Basha love team. I am too, that is why this Bea-John Lloyd teaser has gotten everyone on their toes. Reunions are always so exciting, and knowing a possible team up on a talked about “A Last Chance” just amplified things.
So, yesterday, October 2, Wednesday, Bea Alonzo posted a photo on Instagram. And this not just any photo of a vacation of her and her friends – this is a photo of her and John Lloyd sitting in front of each other with a red text saying, “A Last Chance?”
This comes with a caption, “Matagal nang hindi nagkita at nagkasama. Pwede pa rin kayang magkaroon ng LAST CHANCE?”
This has so much “One-More-Chance-A-Second-Chance” written all over it, except that the caption ends with hashtags TaraTurksTayo, EverydayMakeItATurksday, and MasMasarapKungSaanKaMasaya. It makes you think that this may just be another promo for a shawarma brand where the stars were introduced as endorsers along with Piolo Pascual earlier this year.
Yes, it’s great seeing John Lloyd in the limelight again, he has been on Sabbatical since 2017 and honestly, if this is, in fact, a movie on the works, we’re sure that this will be hit since people have indicated positive feedback after seeing all these alleged “A Last Chance” promos.
Earlier this year, Philstar reported that there is a reliable source saying a reunion movie is in the works for the on-screen couple. If this is true, this is going to be John Lloyd’s official comeback film. And if the title is “A Last Chance,” then this is just an exciting comeback indeed.
